The Jim Stewart
Trio Bios
Jim Stewart
(guitar) - Jim
started studying
the guitar at
the age of
twelve with
noted musician,
Anthony Andrione.
During this
time, Jim
started working
with other young
musicians,
forming pop
music groups.
Throughout high
school, Jim kept
studying the
guitar
privately,
continuing to
meet and work
with other
musicians in a
variety of
musical
settings. After
graduating from
high school, Jim
began to study
music on the
collegiate
level, attending
Essex Community
College and
Towson
University .
While at Towson,
he studied with
Hank Levy and
performed with
the nationally
known Towson
State Jazz
Ensemble. Also,
while at Towson,
he studied with
well-known local
guitarist, Larry
Woolridge and
classical
guitarist,
Michael Decker.
Jim was awarded
a Bachelor’s
degree in
classical guitar
as a performance
major.
For the past
twenty-five
years, Jim has
continued to
perform in
various musical
settings and
recording
projects in the
Baltimore area.
He has recorded
and performed
with his own
trio looking,
for more venues
to bring his
music to the
people of
Baltimore. Jim
is continuing
his jazz studies
with Ashton
Fletcher
participating in
his master class
exploring new
compositions of
his music.
Ted Naperkoski
(drums) - Over
the past thirty
years, Ted has
worked with
numerous local
bands in a full
and part-time
capacity
throughout the
Mid-Atlantic
region,
performing and
recording many
different styles
of music. Ted
has studied with
Chuck Memphis of
the Peabody
Conservatory of
Music, noted
Charlie Byrd
drummer, Bill
Riechenbach and
Dave Tucker.
Phil Ravita
(bass) - Phil,
also a graduate
of Towson
University,
brings to the
group twenty
years of
performance in
jazz and
classical
venues. While at
Towson, he
studied
classical bass
with Paul
Johnson and jazz
bass with Tom
Williams. At
Towson, Phil
played first
chair in
orchestra, opera
orchestra and
jazz ensemble.
Currently he’s
studying with
Ashton Fletcher,
noted and
respected
musician/teacher
in the Baltimore
area. During the
past ten years,
Phil has
recorded with
the Jim Stewart
Trio, Towson’s
Jazz Ensemble,
The Charm City
Revival and many
other groups.
Phil plays a
Lowendall double
bass as well as
a Ken Smith six
string electric
bass.
